Rev. Bailey speaks to 1,000 Cook County inmates
Probation Challenge President/CEO Rev. Harold E. Bailey recently spoke to more than 1,000 inmates from Division Four at the Cook County Jail.
"My message to the men and women was to get off the street corners. We're trying to have an era of peace and quiet in our community," Bailey said.
"We're trying to educate our young people about dangers of standing on the street corners and how that affects the community," he told the Chicago Defender.
"If they continue to stand on those corners, they're going to sit in jail," Bailey warned the inmates. "I'd rather they hear this from me than a stranger's voice in prisons …
